Six things that hold across all engagements
A document, not a deck
Findings are written in prose, not assembled into slides. This produces more considered output and something that can be read, shared, and returned to without a presenter in the room.
Fixed scope
The engagement is described in writing before work begins. What is included and what is not is explicit. You are not managing an open-ended retainer or a scope that expands under its own weight.
Direct engagement
The work is conducted by the same person you spoke with at the start. It is not handed to a junior associate after the proposal is signed.
Observational, not prescriptive
The diagnostic does not arrive with pre-formed recommendations looking for evidence. It begins with observation and works toward findings, not the other way around.
Transparent pricing
Service fees are published. RM 2,000 for a Diagnostic, RM 1,250 for an Editorial Strategy, RM 440 for Retrospective Facilitation. No variable pricing based on company size or perceived willingness to pay.
No dependency designed in
Each engagement is self-contained. The output is yours to use without us. We do not build follow-on dependency into the work as a business model.
Professional expertise
The principal consultant brings fifteen years of direct experience across operational and editorial questions in Malaysian organisations — spanning technology companies, professional services firms, and non-governmental entities. That range matters because operational problems often have context that is specific to industry and geography, and pattern recognition across sectors is a genuine advantage.
- Deep familiarity with Malaysian business operating context
- Cross-sector pattern recognition
- Experience with both multinational offices and locally-owned firms
Methodology and process
Each service type has a defined structure that has been developed and refined through repeated application. The Operational Diagnostic follows a specific sequence of scope-setting, interviews, observation, and writing. This structure is not rigid — it adapts to what is found — but having a method means the quality of the output is not dependent on any particular client being especially well-organised or forthcoming.
- Defined sequence for each engagement type
- Structured interview framework adapted per engagement
- Output template refined over multiple projects
Client communication
The consultant communicates directly and in writing. Status updates are brief and factual. Questions are asked when something is unclear, rather than assumed away. The debrief at the end of each engagement is an opportunity to review whether the work met the brief, and any gap between the two is taken seriously.
- Direct, written communication throughout
- Post-engagement debrief included
- Response to enquiries within one business day
Results and outcomes
The measure of a good diagnostic is whether the organisation recognises its own situation in the document — and whether the observations are specific enough to act on. The measure of a good editorial framework is whether it is still in use six months after delivery. These are the standards against which the work should be evaluated, and they are worth discussing before an engagement begins.
- Findings specific enough to act on
- Frameworks designed for ongoing use
- Outputs owned entirely by the client

— What Sets Us Apart —
Distinctive features of the practice
The journal format
Diagnostic documents are structured as journal entries rather than formal reports. The tone is considered and direct — closer to a thoughtful colleague's notes than a consultancy's deliverable template. Clients consistently note that this makes the findings easier to absorb and share.
Focus area co-design
The three focus areas for a Diagnostic are chosen with you, not imposed by a standard template. This means the work addresses the questions your organisation is actually carrying, rather than a generic set of operational health indicators.
Cross-service coherence
A client who commissions more than one type of engagement over time receives work that is informed by the previous engagement. The consultant knows the organisation and does not ask the same orientation questions twice.
Bounded timeline
The Diagnostic is two weeks. The Editorial Strategy and Retrospective Facilitation have similarly short timelines. This keeps the engagement from becoming a background fixture and pushes toward concrete output.
